Le Kyranides descrivono, in ordine alfabetico, i poteri terapeutici e magici delle piante, degli animali, delle pietre e i loro segreti rapporti.

Intitolata "Libro delle virtù fisiche, delle malattie e delle cure" o Liber medicinalis, l'opera è formata da due sezioni (la Kyranisdel re persiano Kyranus e il Liber therapeutikos di Arpocrazione di Alessandria), compilate da un autore bizantino nei secoli V-VIII e tradotte probabilmente dal chierico Paschalis Romanus nel 1169 a Costantinopoli.

La prima Kyranis, scolpita in caratteri siriaci su una stele di ferro, è donata da Ermete Trismegisto agli uomini affinché potessero essere istruiti sulle virtù di ventiquattro pietre, piante, pesci e uccelli, ordinate secondo l'alfabeto greco.

Per quanto riguarda il Liber therapeutikos, i siriani sostenevano di avere portato a Seleucia una colonna di ferro con l'iscrizione del libro, trovato da Arpocrazione e composto da una diversa redazione della prima Kyranis, con l'aggiunta di altre tre Kyranides.

Il trattato presenta tre bestiari, sempre secondo l'ordine alfabetico greco, e le indicazioni per il confezionamento di pozioni e di talismani dalle proprietà magiche e mediche.

The Kyranides describe, in alphabetical order, the magical healing powers of plants, animals, stones and their secret relationship.

Entitled "The Book of the physical virtues, diseases and treatments" or Liber medicinalis, the work is made up of two sections (the Kyranis of the Persian king Kyranus and the Liber therapeutikos of Harpokration of Alexandria), compiled by a Byzantine author in the 5-8th centuries and probably translated from the cleric Paschalis Romanus in 1169 in Constantinople.

The first Kyranis, carved in Syriac characters on a iron pillar, is given by Hermes Trismegistus to men so that they could be educated on the virtues of twenty-four stones, plants, fish and birds, ordered in accordance with the Greek alphabet.

Regarding the Liber therapeutikos, the Syrian claimed to have brought an iron column to Seleucia with the entry of the book, found from Harpokration and composed of a different preparation of the first Kyranis, with the addition of three other Kyranides.

The treatise has three bestiaries, in Greek alphabetical order, and instructions to the packaging of potions and talismans from the medical and magical properties.
